He left the government job and joined the diocese of Jammu Kashmir. The experience of Charles in academics and administration is commendable. He is a natural leader and has been repeatedly elected to be class leader, school leader and president of students’ councils. He has been Principal, Parish Priest, Judicial Notary, Chaplain of Frankfurt University Hospital, Project Coordinator of German Doctors cum German Government (BMZ) co-funded project of St Joseph’s Hospital in Baramulla/Kashmir, Staff of Papal Seminary, Project Coordinator of the renovation of the Papal Seminary Chapel, Professor of Moral Theology, Director of Center for Applied Ethics. At present, he is Associate Director of St. Johns Medical College and Research Institute, Bangalore.
Charles Davis a catholic priest to receive the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship given by Research Foundation of the Federal Republic of Germany through the selection team of more than 50 academics, to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in research and who contribute significantly to international cooperation and understanding, He is a Humboldt Fellow.
His books the ethics of human embryonic stem cell research: Proposals for a Legal Framework for India and human dignity in world religions: toward a global bioethics and biolaw are used as manuals in universities. His membership at the Pontifical Academy for Life in the Vatican City and the Professorship at the University of Freiburg in Germany are noteworthy.
